Margate's new skatepark
We are bringing new life to Ethelbert Crescent in Margate, with a new, state-of-the-art skatepark. The aim is to create a safe space for the community that the whole town can be proud of.
Local people are invited to an event on Thursday 23 April. In addition to viewing the plans, there will be an opportunity to talk with the project team and representatives from Betongpark and share feedback on the design.
We're also inviting people to suggest names for the skatepark. You can do this by clicking on 'Submit your idea'.
The flagship park will be completely free to use. It will be designed for people of all skill levels, from absolute beginners to expert skateboarders. It will feature a state-of-the-art concrete design, landscaping, new seating areas, and a kiosk with public toilets.
The skatepark will be a welcoming community hub where skaters, friends, and families can spend time together, also attracting visitors from further afield. It is hoped that local community groups and experts will offer coaching, workshops and events at the skatepark.
Betongpark Limited has been appointed as the specialist contractor, to design and build the skatepark. Betongpark is an award-winning company known for creating concrete skateparks across the UK and Europe.
Subject to planning approval, construction is expected to begin in 2026, with the skatepark anticipated to open to the public in 2027. The £1.1 million skatepark project is supported by government regeneration funding, originally secured through the Margate Town Deal, now part of the Thanet Regeneration Programme.
