Royal Crescent Refurbishment Project

Royal Crescent is a Grade II listed building in Ramsgate. 

Thanet District Council owns and manages two sections; 4-15 and 19-23 Royal Crescent as part of its social housing stock. 

The refurbishment project will address critical repair work that is needed to support the integrity of the building and keep residents safe.

We expect the work to take ten to twelve months to complete. Whilst every effort will be made to work to this timeframe, it could be subject to change. 

Our priority is to keep residents informed throughout the process and give them the opportunity to give us feedback.

The refurbishment project is nearing completion and as the scaffolding is removed section by section, you will begin to see the buildings emerging once again.

The final completion date is now expected to be mid-May 2026. This is a slight delay from our previous predicted finish of the end of March. The challenging winter weather slowed progress in some areas, but we anticipate the work will be completed as we move into spring.

During the final weeks of the project, we will provide a further update and give you an opportunity to give us your feedback. Your feedback is important to us and will help us to improve our approach to future projects.

SER will continue to update the notice boards at each block. Your Resident Liaison Officer, Tobias, remains available to answer your questions and resolve any issues that you may have.

The good news is that the majority of the more disruptive works have now been completed.

Work that will be carried out over the coming weeks:

4–15 Royal Crescent:

  • Canopy roof repairs
  • Roof tile replacement
  • Scaffolding removal
  • Final snagging works
  • General building clean-up

19–23 Royal Crescent:

  • Completion of basement works
  • Communal electrics and heating
  • Refurbishment of the site office, converting it into a residential flat
  • Final site clean-up and snagging
