Let's Talk Thanet: Priorities, Budget, Services

We conduct an in-depth residents' survey every year. The information we receive helps us to know what things matter most to the people that live and work in Thanet and to focus on those things.

The survey is open to 6,000 households selected at random, and we send them a postcard with a unique reference number, to invite them to take part.

Residents who don't receive a postcard can still complete the survey here on Your Voice Thanet.

As part of the survey, we ask for your feedback on our draft Corporate Plan. The Corporate Plan sets out the council’s priorities for the future of Thanet. It provides a framework for the council to plan its work, and to make sure that resources are focused on what matters most to residents.

The Corporate Plan is renewed every four years, and the current one has now reached the end of its cycle. The next four year period runs from 2024 - 2028.

You can read the draft Corporate Plan here.

As part of the survey, we would also like your feedback on the council’s proposed budget for 2024-25. This will help us with the budget setting process for the financial year ahead.

Thanet District Council is creating a new Corporate Plan for 2024-2028. This is the document that sets out the direction of travel for the council over the next four years and what the council will focus on. The priorities have been identified based on feedback from our previous annual Residents' Surveys, where residents have told us that they want clean streets, to feel safe and to have thriving towns.

We are proposing five new priorities, and we want you to tell us how you feel about them. These five priorities are of equal importance and are not ranked in order of priority. You can read the draft Corporate Plan on the council's website.

We are also working on a proposed budget for the council for the next financial year, 2024-2025. You can read the Cabinet Report which outlines the draft budget in full on the council's website. You can give your feedback on the investment plans in the survey.

We want to be sure we are dealing with the issues that matter most to you, so please take this opportunity to have your say. It doesn’t matter if you're a long-standing resident, have only just moved into the area or whether or not you pay Council Tax. In order to improve our services, we need to hear your views.

The survey should take around 20 minutes to complete. All surveys should be completed by 5.00pm on Tuesday 2 January 2024.

The current corporate objectives are: growth, environment and communities. You can read more about the current priorities here. (Please open the link in a new tab so you don't lose this page).
