Ramsgate's Plan for Neighbourhoods
The government has chosen Ramsgate to receive up to £20 million in funding and support over the next decade, as part of its ‘Plan for Neighbourhoods’ programme. The funding is for the whole area of Ramsgate, and covers the period 2026 to 2036. The funding will be used to help deal with some of the issues that matter most to local people.
A new Ramsgate Neighbourhood Board has been set up to lead this initiative. The aim is to give local people the power to address local issues and regenerate the town.
The Board will work alongside Thanet District Council to produce a 10-year vision and plan for Ramsgate. The plan will outline what projects and activities will be done to achieve the programme’s three key objectives:
- Creating thriving places
- Building stronger communities
- Taking back control
Undertaking meaningful engagement with the local community is a central pillar of the Plan for Neighbourhoods. Building trust and empowering the local community requires consistency, dedication and time, and evidence that people’s priorities have been acted upon.
The Board will engage with communities in Ramsgate to shape the vision and plan, which must be submitted to government for consideration by the end of November 2025.

Phases
Shaping projects together
When we have reviewed your feedback, we'll start shaping specific projects based on the priorities identified by Ramsgate’s communities.
This phase is all about ensuring the projects are effective and sustainable. We are committed to developing ideas that:
- Are deliverable and sustainable for the long term
- Address gaps identified through data and engagement
- Complement, involve, or enhance existing projects without duplicating or competing with them
How we will shape projects:
- Focused workshops with key stakeholders: We will hold detailed workshops with key local partners and organisations responsible for project delivery and operational sustainability. These sessions are vital for co-creating projects that meet community needs and align with central government guidelines.
- Share your proposals: We will launch a platform for people to share their ideas about how to tackle the priority themes and challenges and meet the opportunities identified through our community engagement.
- People's Panel: We are setting up a People's Panel, a group of Ramsgate residents who will help test project proposals before they are finalised, to make sure they meet the needs of the community.
- Public Engagement: There will be meetings with key community stakeholders and a public drop-in session for everyone to review and comment on the plans as they are developed.
Stay up to date and get involved:
There will be more opportunities to take part and share your feedback throughout the planning and delivery period.
