Housing Assistance Policy
Thanet District Council can provide funding to help local people improve their living conditions. Grants can be awarded to cover the cost of repairing, improving or adapting homes, if certain criteria are met.
The council’s Housing Assistance Policy outlines the framework for various types of funding available. The policy applies to people living in a property that they own, or rent from a private landlord or housing association. It does not apply to council tenants.
The Housing Assistance Policy is reviewed every five years, and local people are now invited to share feedback on the proposed changes.
The draft policy sets out:
- Who can apply
- Who provides the funding
- Information about Disabled Facilities Grants
- Other kinds of financial assistance
- The conditions that apply to each grant or loan
- The complaints procedure
The draft policy applies to the following grants and loans:
- Disabled Facilities Grant (pages 6-12)
- Empty Property Loans (pages 15-16)
- Heating Assistance Grant (pages 13-14)
- Home Enablement Service (page 14)
- Home Straight Service (pages 14-15)
