38-40 Grosvenor Place, Margate
Thanet District Council is proposing to convert 38-40 Grosvenor Place, Margate into 11 self-contained flats. If approved, these will provide temporary accommodation for people in the district who urgently need somewhere safe to live.
Local people are invited to share their feedback on the proposals on Your Voice Thanet. An in-person, drop-in event will be held at 38-40 Grosvenor Place, Margate CT9 1UW on Tuesday 24 March 2026, between 3pm and 6pm.
People who can’t complete the survey online can request a paper copy by calling 01843 577000.
The proposal is subject to planning permission. We expect to submit the planning application at the end of April 2026, subject to feedback received during the public engagement.
If approved, we expect work to start on site in January 2027. It is expected that the work will take around 12 months to complete. Residents could move in from January 2028.
The proposals for RISE were granted planning permission in September 2025, and that site is currently under construction.
The proposed plans are available on the website. This proposal is subject to planning permission.
A previous public drop-in event was held at 38-40 Grosvenor Place on Monday 12 May 2025.
