Treat shared pathways like the safety infrastructure they are meant to be. Paint them, sign them, look after them.

The New Haine Road shared pathway scheme is an example of a well intentioned but incomplete, unmaintained and potentially dangerous cyclist / pedestrian shared route in and out of a busy shopping / leisure area.
- No high visibility, painted cycle lane system that extends for the length of the route.
- No road-grade safety, instruction signs at every X metres to maintain safe use. Just 'please be nice' blue dot signs every now and then.
- Have witnessed the use of these lanes by e-scooters and high powered e-bikes moving at closed to road speeds around pedestrians.
- Unmaintained surroundings (overgrown hedges) are pushing pedestrians out across the path with the risk of accidentally being struck from behind.
