Residents Parking Permits request

From "Parking in Thanet"

Go to the project

Requesting a resident permit Zone for the whole of Surrey Road, Warwick Road, Cumberland Road and Norfolk Road in Cliftonville Margate

Residents are now struggling to park near their own homes

Warwick Road has had increased parking demand since the addition of 9 x 2 bed flats (17-21 Warwick Road F/TH/18/0265)

Norfolk Road and Cumberland road are facing further demand with the large development underway planning reference F/TH/19/1740 and F/TH/22/0531

Which includes

Change of use and conversion of upper floors to 14 self contained flats)

and

(Change of use of part ground floor to residential (Use Class C3) comprising 5 self contained flats consisting of 3No-2-bed and 2No 3-bed)

We have also lost space due to renewed double yellow lines on the corner of Warwick Road and Cumberland Road and several dropped curves that have been installed for residents fed up with the parking problem

Residents are struggling to park near their homes. This is a conservation area and residents are resorting to turning their front gardens into parking spaces with dropped curves. Permits would generate income for the council and would remove non-resident vehicles from our overcrowded roads. I am in the process of organising a petition

Totally agree. Same problems in st pauls road. Shop workers and estate agents staff park their cars in the roads and taken up spaces. Give the workers a discount to park in the car parks and give residents parking permits for their roads. The parking is insane. Cars parked on corners of the roads on double yellow lines and causing obstructions for other road users and pedestrians. There was accident last week on Godwin road and the Junction of albion road and the car ended up on its side. Never see any parking wardens up here at all. Come on TDC sort this out (permit holders only). I have spoken to alot of residents who want electric cars but unable to due to not parking outside there own property...The council needs to do something.
