This is less of a question and more of a statement. Lockdown has resulted in people’s realisation that we shouldn’t take our people and surroundings for granted. In my opinion, this has resulted in the majority becoming nostalgic, sentimental and fiercely keen to keep what they could have lost. More people now take long weekends in seaside towns and crave the familiarity of childhood holidays, they want their own children to experience the same. If you take the theatres from Margate, and reduce family entertainment, you will be taking its heart and Margate will die. Don’t have blood on your hands. Tread very carefully, or anything you do in the future will be wholly unsupported by Thanet people.
