Residents should get a discount on parking . It would not be that hard to link your car reg .
The cost of parking in many cases is more expensive than London. I know tourists are good for the area but they cost locals money with the clean up of roads beaches etc . So charging them more to park seems fair . Visitors to the beach seem to bring everything with them bbq food drinks . So they don’t always spend money here .
