There is need for investment in infrastructure and community space throughout Thanet. If places like the Winter Gardens are shuttered and turned over to property developers eventually no one will want to buy the resulting flats as there will be nothing to do in the local area and local services won’t be able to support the influx of people. Can the council guarantee that the Winter Gardens and other key local spaces such as the Theatre Royal will not be sold to developers? The Winter Gardens should be renovated and used to a key focus point for investment in Margate. Has the neglect of the Winter Gardens been down to neglect and mismanagement, or has there been a strategy in place to underfund until there is no option but to sell for redevelopment?
