Improve cycling paths connecting all Thanet towns to Westwood cross

I am a resident of Cliftonville in Margate, and I cycle daily to Westwood Cross. However, I've found it increasingly difficult and unsafe due to the poor condition of the smaller farm roads, which serve as critical connectors for those wanting to avoid using a car for short commutes around Thanet. These roads are in disrepair and they lack adequate lighting, making them dangerous to use, especially during the darker months.
Many residents, like me, would take walking, running, or cycling as our primary means of transportation if the infrastructure supported it. In Thanet, where nearly 50% of car journeys are less than two miles, improving these pathways could lead to a substantial reduction in car use.
The need for well-maintained roads, dedicated cycling paths, and better street lighting is compelling. Data from the UK Department for Transport indicates that regions with better walking and cycling infrastructure witness a significant reduction in vehicle emissions and an increase in overall public health. It is clear that an investment in improving these infrastructures will benefit the entire community of Thanet.
