I think cycle lanes should only be on roads, as its unsafe on pavements. Ive nearly been hit a few times in these areas.
From "Thanet Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan"
Go to the project
1, drivers that park and block pavements should be towed.
2 cycle lanes should not be on pavements. I get it is safer for the cyclists. But its not safe for pedestrians. As cyclists do not always stay in the lanes. Ive had a cyclists pass so close to me, im disabled and have mobility difficulties and cant move out of their way. Ive felt handlebars skim my clothing.

As a cyclist I agree that "shared" cycle paths on pavements are not a good solution for neither cyclists nor pedestrians. At the same time cycling on main roads can be incredibly dangerous. For example when going between Margate and Westwood Cross, the only safe way to cycle is to use the pavement unfortunately, as the road is 40m/h and the cycle path on the road is narrow and not segregated.
What we need is segregated cycle paths that can be safely used by all types of cyclists.

Agreed. Shared pedestrian/cycle paths are dangerous, particularly when used by electric bikes and scooters.
