Charitable Trust for a community asset?

I am aware that the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury was transferred to the ownership of a private trust, set up for the sole purpose of running the theatre. I am also aware that several high-profile figures from Margate and beyond have voiced an interest in getting both the WG and the Theatre Royal back on their feet. Part of this problem seems to be the cloak of secrecy that surrounds the goings-on.

This is a public asset and as such, it should be publicly handled. The residents of Margate are not stupid and have a genuine love of these two buildings - there is a lot of history contained therein. If you throw it out across the country and actually publicise the fate of these buildings, rather than letting them slip away, I believe that someone (or several someones) will step forward. In the meantime, please explain why you are choosing to let it dilapidate even further by shutting it up - it will be very damp and is already a danger to the public if the roof caves in as people walk alongside. What are the interim short-term measures in place to stop this happening? Is there a plan to approach any investors, private or arts-related trusts to see if they are interested?
